I think that a queer identity is a way of viewing the world differently, that is about challenging structure and about challenging the assumptions that we as a society make of what is normal and what is acceptable and what is the way that things should be done. Having a queer identity allows you to see around that.

At the moments when you’re really allowed to sit into that identity and to sing into that identity you get these little lifts into envisaging a world that is completely different.
